There is no Self without Other. In the mirror-reflection of your mother's eyes, your own self-worth was born. In your mother's womb, it was the beating of her heart and blood which moulded you. She was your first introduction to the world; she was your world. The space and time of your early childhood years taught you how to Be in the world - and what to expect from life. Womb and family-spaces distilled in you a story of what the world is made of; of how life will treat you, of what life is. This is the story you embody, the embodied story you are living now. This is the childhood story you take with you into every adult relationship, with every Other living being you meet.

Is the fabric of your story woven from threads of fear or of love? Is your childhood story wrapped tightly around you, like protective armour, impenetrable; leaving you guarded and ready to fight? Or is it worn loosely, revealing the warmth and nakedness of glowing skin; welcoming in new sensations with curiosity, wonder and delight? In your story, is the world a safe or a frightening place?

We are moulded by the childhood stories we have learned and rehearsed; the stories we repeat to ourselves - and do not experience the same world within this shared world of ours.

Yet, remembering the story of your own Becoming - recognising that there is no Self without Other - you can choose to re-member and become a source of unity in this world. By learning how to reparent yourself, you choose to become a safe space for Others to experience the self-love they see mirrored in your eyes.
